About the Rivermen Program

 Hockey Yukon has been approved to operate two teams within the BCHockey Zone Program next season (2018-2019)

 

U15 Bantam AAA Rivermen  (players born 2004/2005)

U16 Minor Midget AAA Rivermen (players born 2003)

 

About the Hockey Yukon Bantam AAA Rivermen

After a successful 2017/2018 season, the Bantam AAA Rivermen will continue to operate in a similar fashion inside the BC Hockey Zone Program.

-Players from Yukon, NWT, Nunavut, Northern Alberta, Northern BC and Alaska may be eligible to tryout

-Players who make the Bantam AAA Rivermen will have an opportunity to affiliate with the Minor Midget AAA Rivermen

-The Bantam AAA Rivermen will be on the ice +/-6 x per week with off ice development sessions as well

 

About the Hockey Yukon Minor Midget AAA Rivermen

**New this season** We are excited to have been approved to host a Minor Midget AAA hockey team inside the territory starting in the 2018/2019 season. The team will operate as a “exhibition guest” in the new AAA Minor Midget League within BC Hockey.

 -Players from Yukon, NWT, Nunavut, Northern Alberta, Northern BC and Alaska may be eligible to tryout

-This team will be coordinated with consideration of the 2019 Canada Winter Games taking place in Red Deer, Alberta. (February 2019)

-Players from this Minor Midget AAA team may be eligible to affiliate with Major Midget AAA and other teams as opportunities arise.

-This team is booked for two AAA tournaments and events (Calgary and Edmonton)

 

Both Programs Offer

-Participation in BC Hockey-wide zone team events, showcases and league play

-Flexible options to incorporate distance and online courses to compliment course work requirements

-Proven hockey skills programming

-7 hours of on-ice instruction per week

-2 dryland training sessions per week

-Professional skating, conditioning and goaltending clinics

-Screened billet families for out-of-town players

-Strong sense of community and many opportunities for outdoor activities

-Ability to compete at the Tier 1 and AAA level

 

The Investment

The league fees to participate in the Yukon Regional Zone Program will be approximately $5,000 and can include, but not limited to:

  • Game and practice ice
  •  Tournament entry fees
  • Dryland training
  • Jerseys and equipment
  • League/team website
  • League administration
  • Coach honorarium
  • Showcase weekends
  • Team travel expenses
  • Team supplies and coaching software
  • Attendance at the Western Bantam Championship

Hockey Yukon will be permitted to assign or submit requests for additional fees to be collected.  These may include:

  • Travel
  • Additional expenses at tournaments
  • Selection and tryout camps
