Re: Yukon Championships Bench Coach Requirements and Player Rostering

Good afternoon communities,

Thank you for working so hard to get Yukon Championships off to an early and great start. Please review the below requirements to ensure that we are covered off in the Hockey Canada Registry and our Coaches are suitably certified and everyone is insured for the events.

Players

-All players are required to be rostered on a CURRENT team in the Hockey Canada Registry.

-All players must be in the appropriate age category for their division to compete in Champs with exceptions being given only for those who require additional players to field a team. Contact Hockey Yukon for exceptions

-It is preferred that each athlete only compete in ONE championship over the course of a season

-Rosters must be handed in to Hockey Yukon ONE WEEK before the event for review and approval.

Coaches

-All bench coaches are required to be FULLY CERTIFIED for their division. (see below for links and details). This is for champs and for regular season hockey in your community.

-All bench coaches must be rostered to a CURRENT team in the Hockey Canada registry

-All certifications can be done virtually -there are no longer barriers to becoming certified

-Coaches should be able to present receipts to their minor hockey association for refund, Associations are asked to retain receipts and keep track of payments and will be reimbursed by Hockey Yukon at the end of the season

-On ice helpers can be rostered if they have RIS and a CRC, but on ice helpers cannot go on bench during games or champs.

After your community has hosted Championships, please submit an invoice to Hockey Yukon for $3500 plus the cost of your on-ice officials for the weekend and HY will compensate you.

Sincerely,
